Irrigation System Overload at 6:30 AM

You may have noticed that the irrigation system was not working on several mornings this week. Hopkins, our landscaping company, determined that pumps shut down about 6:30 AM from too much demand for water. Our system is not very complicated and with good management, can easily handle Harris Ranch and more.

Irrigation water from the Penitentiary Canal and the Golden Dawn well flow into a suction chamber in the Spring Creek pump house. When the pumps draw more water out than flows in, the water level in the chamber drops and the pumps shut down to avoid damage. Restarting the pumps requires a visit from the landscaping company.

We can't control the amount of water flowing in, but we can control the amount coming out. For the past couple of years the HROA has not enforced an irrigation schedule. To avoid a schedule and the headaches that go with it, please ensure that you schedule your sprinklers at some time other than 5 to 7 AM. Try picking the hour that corresponds with the last digit on your house number.

With proper management, we can keep the water flowing for everyone.

  1. Hello. I would like to say that we at Barberton, are just as concerned as Harris Ranch is about everything that will happen and is happening in our community. Our communities are connected at Mineral Dr. and Woodcross. We are Barberton Sr. Community - not Golden Dawn. We have been experiencing most of the issues as you have., However, we are at a disadvantage as most of the citizens are seniors and do not or cannot express opinions. For them I am trying to do that. I have attended your meetings in the past but sometimes they fall on the same day as I have other meetings. Unfortunately as a Senior community, most of our older citizens, once city and government workers, have had to sell their homes to renters. Here is where most of our problems begin. We are not saddles with sex offenders and BSU students who could care less for speed limits, kids on bikes, animals and the elderly. Yes, that is true! We have had to call Ada Co. Sheriff Office regularly due to persons walking up from Golden Dawn at night and after curfew hours. Numerous barking dogs will attest to that. Several neighbors on Mineral have had things stolen from their garages or carports, and now, there appears to be easier access from the new Jr. High School.
This element is not one we like, however, some elderly people are definitely afraid to be involved. Alot of us have all had vandalism to our properties including the last 5 years of my owning my place.
I just want to say that I am trying to work hand in hand with Spring Creek and the neighborhood to prevent what a friend calls
"just like it was in Phoenix". Many of us feel getting rid of Golden Dawn would be a step in the right direction. In my profession I did a survey in this area where Barberton Sr. Community is - this was once an old town, called Barberton, where mill workers lived and mnay artifacts were gathered before Triplett built the $1m homes on it.
Thanks. We are here to help in any way.
